THE Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) is currently on extensive preparations for the 'repackaging' of Hagimit falls.

Administrator Cleto Gales, Jr., in an interview last week, said they expect the influx of tourist once the 'retouching' of the falls is completed.

"As of now, around 150 to 200 excursionists visit the site during weekends.

Pero, kapag natapos na ang pagpapaganda namin sa Hagimit Falls, definitely dadami lalo ang tao, baka dumoble pa nga," he said.

Hagimit Falls is located at less than two kilometers away from Peñaplata.

Gales said that Hagimit Falls is "their main focus for development at present."'

"The concept of developing the area is making it as a 'kaliguanan sa lasang', which means that you are going to experience 'yong paliligo sa isang lugar na para bang nasa gitna ka ng kakahuyan. We are constantly planting some trees in the area. Kaunting enhance na lang actually ang kailangan, dadagdagan mo lang lang ng flowering plants, ok na," he said.

Gales added they are offering not only the place but as well as the culture of the island's inhabitants.

"Sa lugar kasi, tourists get to interact with the community who have stories to tell about the area. We really would want to inculcate a different dimension of tourism," he said.

Gales said they have already come up with an executive committee which will be in-charge of the whole preparation.

"Once all of our plans get implemented, we would be accrediting some reflexologists and spa operators to promote spa by the river," he said.
